Satoru Iwata Passes Away

It was announced today, that after battling with a Bile Duct Growth for just over a year, that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata had unfortunately passed away. Iwata was best known for not only being the president since 2002, but also having a huge part in direcing and programming many of Nintendo's titles, as well as his very light-hearted personality While his death was announced today (July 13th in Japan), his death had occured two days earlier local time, on July 11th. A successor hasn't been named, but for the time being, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda will be running things. It is an incredibly difficult loss that many Nintendo fans are currently struggling to cope with. Social Media has been flooded with warm regards for the late president, who was well known for his generosity and selflessness, as well as always being a gamer at heart, despite how far up the corporate ladder he climbed. The various jokes surrounding him, such as "Directly" and "Please Understand", made him be more than just a president, but also a massive part of Nintendo, and gaming culture.
