Nintendo released a video on their YouTube channel today, detailing 5 changes coming to Super Mario Maker in a free update scheduled for November 4th. These five changes are as follows:
1. Checkpoints are now in the game, allowing players to restart at that point upon death. The trailer states that to post a level with a checkpoint, you must clear the level from that point. Checkpoints are accessed by shaking an Arrow-Sign
2. Traditional Power-Ups are accessed by dragging a mushroom onto another powerup. This will make it so that if Mario is small, he will receive a Mushroom, but if he's big, he will receive the other Power up
3. A harder version of Gnat Attack is accessed by repeatedly shaking a muncher
4. Official Creators are added to the creators in Course World
5. Themed event levels are also accessable in Course World.
